Hi, I’m Laurie.
At SociallySavvyCLT, I am dedicated to empowering children and teens to thrive both socially and emotionally, preparing them for a successful and fulfilling future...whatever that may be! My mission is to provide personalized support and guidance to help your child build confidence, develop essential skills, and find their unique place in the world.
I am a mother, educator, dog lover, ordinary human being who wants extraordinary things for children and teens.
When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it is our job to share their calm, not join their chaos. — L.R. Knost
What is a Social Skills Group?
Simply put social skills groups are small, facilitated sessions aimed at teaching children and teens how to interact more effectively with their peers. I believe a Social Skills Group should go a few steps further. Getting along with your peers is great, but what about siblings, parents, people of authority, etc.? I will be teaching skills that not only help in the school setting, but also at home and in the real world. Let's be honest, if COVID taught us anything our children were not always “a joy to have in class”!

What Parents are Saying
"My son, who has ADHD and ASD, was fortunate to work with Miss Sullivan while attending The John Crosland School. Miss Sullivan helped him identify verbal and nonverbal social cues from peers and teachers.
She also worked with him so that he would learn to take accountability for his actions. She taught him techniques to de-escalate and emotionally regulate in stressful and uncomfortable situations. Miss Sullivan was ALWAYS a safe place to land. Students and parents benefited from her years of experience, ability to work with both neurotypical and neurodiverse kids, and her overall dedication to her profession and passion for helping kids."
-Parent of 9th grader
"Laurie Sullivan is simply FANTASTIC with both children and parents. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She built confidence in our son and helped him overcome fears he had dealt with for years. She truly cares and is passionate about her work. I highly recommend her services."
-Parent of 4th grader
“Laurie is absolutely amazing! She was such an integral part of our son’s development, especially when it came to honing in on and improving his social skills and confidence. She is wonderful with kids of all ages and has such a great positive energy that the kids really notice and therefore feel comfortable around her, which lets them feel good about opening up, being themselves, and trying new things. She has definitely helped our son reach new levels of social interaction, conversation and friendships.”
— Parent of 8th grader
"Ms. Sullivan was quite instrumental in handling a personal situation that was occurring with my son. Her dedication to making him feel less anxious, and offering him a safe space, gave him the motivation to persevere when it felt almost impossible.
Ms. Sullivan has demonstrated herself to have her students' best interests at heart. Someone that goes out of their way to connect and create a bond. She makes it a point to listen and help kids advocate for themselves.”
-Parent of 10th grader
"Laurie is the kind of teacher every parent prays to have for their child. She is positive, energetic, intelligent, capable in her profession, motivated, responsible and dependable. I’m so grateful for the difference she made in my child’s life.”
